2013 Strikers Single Game Tickets Now on Sale

Single game tickets for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 2013 season are now on sale. Fans can also purchase season tickets, group tickets and on-field experience packages, which are available now. These offers provide great value for the best seats and biggest games. “The Strikers are dedicated to giving each and every fan a positive and memorable experience, both on and off the field, when they visit historic Lockhart Stadium during the 2013 season,” said team president Tom Mulroy.

The Strikers have been a force on the offensive and defensive sides of the field this preseason. The team is unbeaten in five games, scoring 15 goals and allowing none. The Strikers have added experienced professionals to the 2013 roster including Jamaican international Shavar Thomas, former Honduran international Ivan Guerrero and 2011 NASL Best XI forward David Foley. These players join 2012 NASL Best XI Strikers Walter Restrepo and Mark Anderson to form a team certain to challenge for the 2013 Soccer Bowl.

PROMOTIONS

The 2013 spring home schedule is filled with a variety of promotions sure to please dedicated season ticket holders and fans of all ages. Below is a glance at the themes fans can look forward to enjoying during the upcoming season.

April 6 – Opening Kick – The Strikers welcome back fans for the 2013 season with a new look at Lockhart. The new south entrance greets fans with fun and interactive areas for all ages.

April 27 – The Florida Derby – It’s Strikers vs. Rowdies and long time supporters as well as new fans will get caught up in celebrating one of the greatest rivalries in North American soccer.

May 11 – Ladies Night – It’s Mother’s Day weekend and the Strikers want to honor and celebrate all the special ladies who help our community and dedicate themselves to supporting and playing our sport.

June 1 – Summer Kickoff Party – Summer time always comes early to Fort Lauderdale and the Strikers are kicking off the season with specials and events designed to help fans enjoy everything our community’s warm weather brings.

June 15 – International Soccer Night – The CONCACAF Gold Cup returns to South Florida in July with matches between Honduras and El Salvador as well as Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago. The Strikers welcome fans of all international sides and will be honoring South Florida’s soccer champions at all levels as well.

June 29 – Fan Appreciation Night – With the final home game of the spring season, the Strikers will give fans a night to remember as we look back on a great spring and look forward to the Fall Championship season.

Strikers head to Boca to face FAU Saturday

Fresh off a 5-0 victory against Nova Southeastern University, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers will make a quick trip up I-95 to face the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Owls for the final match of the 2013 preseason schedule.

With the shutout win against Nova on Wednesday night, the Strikers maintained their winning preseason record. The team has won all five of their preseason matches, and is yet to concede a single goal.

Said head coach Daryl Shore following the win, “I thought we were sharp and defended pretty well. All in all we are pleased with the effort and happy we did well with our chances.”

Stefan Dimitrov scored a hat-trick against Nova, increasing his preseason tally to a team-high six goals in four appearances. David Foley and Andy Herron—both making their first appearances this preseason—each scored a goal on either side on Dimitrov’s third.

FAU are coached by Kos Donev. The team had a 2-1-13 (W-T-L) record in 2012, scoring just 8 goals while conceding 34. Last preseason, the Owls held the Strikers to a 1-1 draw.

Versatile Strikers attacker Darnell King played four years at FAU. He was ranked tenth best player in the entire Mid-American Conference by TopDrawerSoccer.com, the only non-Akron player on the list. King was named to the NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region and collected second team all-conference honors.

With a shutout victory on Saturday, the Strikers could head into the 2013 NASL Spring Championship season on the back of a flawless preseason campaign.

Tickets are $5 for adults. Children under 13, wearing their club jersey, are admitted free, as are FAU students and staff. At halftime, fans will have a chance to participate in the Flying High Soccer Ball Kick Contest. Contestants will compete to see who has the furthest kick. The Owls and Strikers will have a post-game autograph session at the field.

At Lockhart Stadium earlier in the day is the Historic Lockhart Stadium Community Restoration Day event. Strikers fans are encouraged to come help as we restore, renew and revitalize the home of soccer in South Florida. More information can be found here.

The team will host an invitation only VIP Strikers Night the following Saturday at Lockhart Stadium to show off changes to the stadium and for fans to the meet the players.
