2013: The Fort Lauderdale Strikers announced the signing of Ivan Guerrero for the 2013 season on January 24, 2013.
Professional: Guerrero began his professional career in 1996 with Club Deportivo Motagua of the first division of Honduran soccer. He made 99 appearances with Motagua before transferring to Coventry City, then of the English Premier League, in 2000.
Guerrero returned to Motagua in 2002, making 38 appearances between 2002 and 2004. He then spent a portion of the 2004 season with Uruguayan side Club Atlético Peñarol before moving to the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer for 2005.
Guerrero was the Fire’s only representative in the 2005 MLS All-Star Game and took home Chicago’s MVP and Defender of the Year awards. After three seasons in Chicago, Guerrero spent 2008 playing first for the San Jose Earthquakes and later D.C. United.
Guerrero was traded to the Colorado Rapids in 2009 but did not see any regular season action and returned to Honduras’ Motagua from 2009 to 2011, where he made 87 appearances before retiring in 2011.
International: Guerrero had 84 caps with the Honduran national team between 1999 and 2010, scoring 4 goals. He competed in 33 FIFA World Cup qualification matches for the Honduran national team and competed in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2000, 2005 and 2007.
